Living A FUNtastic Life (Part 8)

by Patrick Liew on August 8, 2011

People who are optimistic tend to be happier.

Recently, I told my friends half in jest that my Love Notes are memoirs of a great failure.

Throughout my life I have flunked out in examinations and even made to repeat my classes. I have also failed many times in matters of the heart.

Quite a few times I was at the brink of a financial collapse.

I have almost been killed at different points in my life.

My friends told me, “How can you be happy after going through all these experiences?”

Long ago, I realized there is always hope. I could be optimistic about my future.

Through the help of our Creator, I learned to see the positives of even the worst situation. I realised that I can overcome the negatives and then soar in life again.

When I was at the valleys of my life, there is a deep-seated belief that there were many ways to get back to the mountain tops of life.

All around me, there was an abundance of opportunities. I have been blessed with many resources to capitalise on these opportunities.

Was I born with such an optimistic way of thinking?

In my case, I was not born with optimistic genes.

However, I believe that whatever genes I have, it can be placed under control and be reprogrammed to serve me. I can cultivate a lifestyle of optimism.

I will share with you in this series of Love Notes how I enhanced my optimism. When I increase my level of optimism, I also increase my level of happiness.

Studies have proven that having optimistic thinking will enable me to better resolve the challenges in life. It can empower me to take initiatives to cope with and respond to them.

I am optimistic that if our Creator is for me, nothing can stand in my way to achieve the desired future.

Therefore, I am more inclined to seek and plan for it. I will also take action to turn my plan into a reality.

I will improve my well-being, competence, and all the essentials to help me accomplish my plan.

Even if there are challenges along the way, having optimistic thinking can motivate me to resolve and persevere through them to achieve success.

Research have proven that living with optimism will enhance positive attitudes, emotions, motivations, skills, and overall well being. All these qualities will also enhance my level of happiness.

Will you choose to be optimistic in life?

Will you learn to enhance your optimism so as to enhance your level of happiness?

I hope this message will find a place in your heart.

By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.
