When I am given the opportunity to speak on the stage, I will enjoy myself and pour out my heart to the audience. Oftentimes, I felt that I have a divine message that is being downloaded to my heart for the audience.
I will have so much fun that I might joke with the audience, “The only way for my talk to end is when you hear a police siren. Then you see many policemen coming on to the stage. They will put me in a strait jacket and drag me out of the stage.†🙂
There are many such experiences when I would be totally in a ‘Flow’ state.
As I reflected on these experiences, I realized that there are five building blocks for ‘Flow.’
1.      Pursuit
There must be clear focus and wholehearted commitment to achieving a task.
2.      Purpose
There must be a commitment and feeling that I am doing it for a worthwhile purpose.
3.      Passion
There must be a deep sense of love and excitement during the process of doing the task.
4.      Performance
There must be a balance between my ability and the difficulty that are involved in completing the task.
While the task is challenging, I must be confident and capable of performing it.
5.      Progress
There must be clear, constant and timely feedback so that I can improve my ability to complete the task.
Even when I make mistakes and fail, there must be a sense that I can pull myself up and persist until I achieve the desired results.
If there is a balance between these five building blocks, it can help me achieve the sweet spot of ‘Flow.’ I can optimize my productivity so as to achieve my dreams and goals.
