Race Of Life.

by Patrick Liew on September 23, 2013

I have been invited more than once to attend the 2013 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix, the night race of the year. I hv declined the kind invites and have absolutely no interest to even go near it.

Those of you who are attending the Singapore Grand Prix, please enjoy the race, good food, and the parties. To our foreign guests, thank you for coming to our beautiful little red dot. Have fun!

I was there at the inaugural race in 2008, with a beautiful view of the starting and finishing points of the race. With ear plugs on, I was looking down and trying to make sense of this adults’ game.

Meanwhile, one young man was sitting besides me, explaining the race to me. He was rattling facts and figures, including engine model, features, and indicators.

After feeling like an idiot about my ignorance, I turned to him and sheepishly asked, “How do you know so much?”

He asked me to look up. Then, he pointed to a huge electronic signboard that was placed across the street and in front of me.

“The information are all there.” Lol!

I rather drive than watch, and be a competitor than a spectator. Besides, the noise is just too much for me.

For some reasons, I have no interest in cars. I cannot even remember the last time I did something for my car on my own, other than putting petrol and paying fines.

We are created with different passion, gifts, talents and strengths. We will be at our happiest and perform at our best when we make full use of them and apply them for the good of others.

Go4It!

I hope this message will find a place in your heart.

By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.
