‘Gather ye – rose buds while ye may;
Old Time is still a – flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying.’
-Robert Herrick
Â
On the 21st of September 2001, I was attending a training programme in Hawaii, USA. That morning, I woke up to hear the news that two aeroplanes directed by Al Qaeda Terrorist Group have crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
A new era of terrorism started.
The world was never the same again.
What brought sadness deep into my heart was that I heard the news directly from New Yorkers. They were my friends and attended the same programme with me.Â
I could never forget one of the sharings.
A lady shared with us, “My boyfriend proposed to me the night before. I told him that I will call him back with the reply.
“It’s too late now.â€
As a result of the experience, I keep reminding myself:
What I need to do, I will go for it (Go4It!) now.
I will inject life into living. I do not want to exist or go through the motion of a ‘typical’ day.
Even if there are challenges, I want to go and grow through them.
I want to enjoy every given moment.
Every moment is the best moment. If I am not enjoying it, it is a wasted moment.
I am mindful that my life can end at any point in time. Because of this fact, I will manage my life, and not just my time.
As long as my life is not over, I can still craft the ‘fairy-tale’ ending.
When the time comes for me to die, the time for death will then be for death alone. I hope I will have done everything that needs to be done, and I look forward to meeting our Creator.
Go4It!
I hope this message will find a place in your heart.
By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.

Question: How should we then live our lives?
