A Personal Reflection About Good Friday (30 Mar 2018, Friday)
Good Friday is a good time to reflect about life and death.
To understand life, you need to understand death.
Be willing to face death, and what happens thereafter to be able to live a better life.
It is strange but true that you cannot fully appreciate life if you do not realise that death may just be around the corner.
If you don’t think you can possibly die, you will never transform yourself to create a better future.
In the same way, if you don’t think you will fail, you will never want to change.
To truly live is to die to yourself.
When you die to yourself, you can live for a mission that is much bigger than yourself.
A life without dreams and purpose is mere existence.
Not having something to look forward to is worst than death.
You live only when you have a sense of meaning and destiny.
Good Friday is a good time to reflect on the profound meaning of the Lord Jesus Christ’s death.
The mission of Christ was for our Creator to become one among us.
Through His death, He took our place and paid the highest price for all our wrongdoings.
He demonstrated the greatest of love so that you and I can return to our Creator and live out His glorious plan for us.
Life and death should therefore be seen from the perspective of eternity.
Living for what truly matters begins right where you are.
Right now.
Therefore, be not afraid of death.
Be more afraid that you are not living the way your Creator wants you to live.
Life is not about how long you live but whether the good that you have done will last beyond your lifetime.
Good Friday is a celebration of Christ’s earthly death. He died for us so that we can live – and live abundantly and eternally.
Death is not the final act.
Death is just another door to exit from this life to enter into a more glorious life.
Death is but a cue to start an eternal symphony of love, joy and peace – a celebration that will last forever.
