About Social Enterprise
The concept of social enterprise is a misnomer.
The mistaken notion is that social enterprises focus on meeting social needs while generating a profit.
For-profit enterprises focus on increasing profits and hopefully, do their part in discharging CSR.
Other than social enterprises that are strongly backed by governments, trade unions, major enterprises, and effective entrepreneurs, there’re not many major successful and sustainable models.
The heart of social entrepreneurs is probably in the right place, but the mind has inadequate reticular activating system to capitalize on business opportunities to strengthen profit, advantage and growth.
For any businesses to thrive and to thrive sustainably, they have to do well and do good at the same time – all the time.
If they’re not good corporate citizens that value-add to their communities and the environment,
they will increasingly and quite possibly, be eventually isolated.
In short, all enterprises should be social enterprises.
Every business model should strive to increase financial (profit), social (people), environmental (planet) and spiritual (purpose) bottom lines.
