It’s Time To Rise Up And Be A Great Leader.
All great leaders practice a special “kung fu” of leadership call Invisible Leadership.
They may not know that they have adopted this model of leadership or that it’s derived from the wisdom of Laozi in Dao De Jing.
The Invisible Leadership (無影領導功) is one of the highest levels (最高境界) of leadership.
In short, the leader leads his people to achieve a worthwhile goal.
Yet, the people don’t know that the leader has been leading them.
When they achieve the goal, they thought they did it on their own.
And they go on to achieve even better goals.
There are six critical success factors to help you become an Invisible Leader.
1. Have a worthwhile cause
As a leader, you need to craft a worthwhile vision, a vision that is so compelling that it will win the hearts and minds of your people.
The rationale is simple.
If your people do not know what you believe in and where you are heading, they may not support you to help turn your vision into a reality.
2. Enroll the right talents.
It bodes well to remember that it’s the people in your organization that make the organization works.
Therefore, recruit the right talents to carry out the right duties and to do so in the right way.
You need to continue to forge a strong teamwork with and among them so as to develop better synergy and achievements.
Just as importantly, explore ways to bring out the best from your team members.
Help them to be the best that they can be in order to achieve ever-improving results.
3. Strengthen self-efficacy
Research has shown that self-efficacy – the belief in one’s ability to learn or accomplish a task at the desired level, is a key to being successful.
It also has a major influence on motivation, well-being, and personal achievement.
Therefore, invest in your people and strengthen their self-efficacies.
Help them develop the confidence, capacity, and capability to achieve success.
Inspire them to have the courage to imagine and articulate future scenarios and fight for the desired future.
4. Develop collective wisdom
Develop and apply fluid intelligence and ability to think critically, broadly and deeply.
To do that, you need to build on a team culture that’s passionate about learning, and learning how to learn, improve, and achieve better results.
Every team member should be motivated to develop innovative, effective and cutting-edge solutions independently and collectively.
5. Systemize your operation
To develop effective teamwork, every member should be motivated to work in alignment with the vision.
There should be systems in place to help lead and manage them. The quality of your systems will determine the quality of your team and achievement.
By having effective systems, it will free you up and help propel your team’s performance, and speed of growth and achievements.
6. Develop more and better leaders
A successful organization is essentially a “leader build leaders who will go on to build even more and better leaders” movement.
Therefore, as a leader, you should be constantly building leaders and these leaders should go on to build more and better leaders.
This process of leadership development should continue until it takes on a life of its own.
The more leaders you have, the stronger will your organization will become and the better your overall results.
Ensure that your leaders are not only self-directed, they can run the organization on your behalf and help you achieve better and more sustainable results.
In summary, learn from the great movements in history.
Even though their founders may no longer be around, the movements continue to grow and achieve better results.
That’s the legacy of an Invisible Leader.
