Living A FUNtastic Life (Part 25)

by Patrick Liew on September 6, 2011

One of my best friends during my teenage years had everything going for him.

He came from a relatively well to do family. They stayed in a nice house next to one of the most beautiful parks in Singapore.

My friend was good looking and very talented. He was surrounded by many friends who liked him and related well with him.

Unfortunately, he was not a happy person.

One day, he invited me to his house. I had a chance to meet his parents and observed the way they lived their lives.

As I came from a much poorer family, it was strange to me that they were not a happy family.

That was also the time when I started a lifelong habit of studying facial lines, including wrinkles on faces. I found that the expressions on my friend’s parents had sadness fixed on their faces.

Somehow, the family’s trait of sadness had influenced my friend.

There were less smiles and more sadness, less laughter and more sorrow, and less fun and more somberness in their lives. Their chosen lifestyle was somehow manifested on the looks of their faces.

Over the years, I have observed this phenomenon to be true among my friends and associates.

Research on the effects of facial expressions on emotions seems to infer that expressions of emotion would affect our feelings for the emotion.

In other words, our facial expressions can influence our feelings.

Therefore, start to put on a happier expression.

The people around you will think that you are a happy person. People like to mix around with happy people.

You will enjoy a better reception and will attract more friends.

You will also influence your loved ones to adopt a similar attitude. They may become happier too.

By looking happy and expressing it through your face, you will feel happier too.

In the long term, you will have joyful lines on your face. You will glow when people look at you and you will age more gracefully and happily.

Please go to the mirror and start practicing the happiest facial expressions.

Then, step out to the world and inspire them to live happily ever after. :0)

Question: How can we put on the happiest facial expressions?
