My edited letter to The Straits Times today, Saturday, January 12, 2019 about effective and compassionate meritocracy.

Meritocracy should be seen in a holistic, balanced and effective way.

There’s no need to go through an unhealthy process of comparing with each other, and competing with and tumbling over each other to reach a lose-lose destination.

Meritocracy should be about playing a positive-sum game so that both the leader and his team can accomplish more, and help to make a more positive impact on the people and environment around them.

A leader can lead in front or be involved in any other role to achieve a greater good.
