Walking On Footprints Of Giants

by Patrick Liew on July 6, 2011

I had lunch with Edmund Chan, one of the many mentors I have in my life. Although we did not have a lot of time together, his words of wisdom has changed and will continue to change my life.

I am a product of many mentors in my life.

Since young, I have been moulded and shaped by many mentors. They showed me the way to success.

These people also include tormentors. They showed me what I should not do in life.

I believe successful people leave footprints on the sands of time. If I follow their footsteps, I will get to similar destinations.

As they say, when I stand on the shoulders of giants, I can see further and clearer into my desired future.

I can also shorten my learning curve and continue where they left behind.

I can avoid their failures. I can also learn from and improve upon their successes.

I can reach a higher level in life.

The other alternative is to learn from my personal experience but that will only give me limited success. It is strange but true that many people prefer to learn from their own failures rather than from other people’s failures.

I have personally learned from both ways. Learning from other people’s failures is definitely much easier and better.

I have decided that I will earnestly seek to have more and better mentors.

I plan to have the right mentors for different areas of my life. I like to have a variety of them to add colour to my life.

These mentors will include both the living and the dead, rich and poor, young and old, male and female, and practically anybody that I meet.

Obviously, I will also seek for mentors through the Internet. Can I count on you as one of my mentors?

I subscribe to the belief that as long as I am a human, I will always be able to learn from another human.

Will you help me become a better person and a more successful entrepreneur?
