There is what you might call a harlot that prowls around – can you believe it – in many homes.
Initially, she will put her hands so lovingly and excitingly on you. Then, she will gradually and gently embrace you.
You will feel the comfort and pleasures that only understanding and experienced hands can provide. She will caress you so wonderfully – day after day – until the hands slowly turn into tentacles and they start to reach into the deep recesses of your brain.
Soon, it will entrench itself, deeper and deeper, wider and wider through the neural pathways in your brain.
You may not realise it but many of your mental inputs will go through this  well-dug neural network. It provides one of the least resistance for the processing of your thoughts.
Obviously, it is not thoughts that will direct your life but the interpretation of the thoughts and its applications that will direct it.
Interestingly and I’m sure you know, our brain can even justify the waste of time, money, and our life.
Over time, the use of the well-entrenched neural pathway will cause you to lose more and more control of your decision-making processes.
In other words, the harlot can determine how you process your thoughts. It can also virtually  ‘put thoughts’ in your mind.
Before you know it, it has taken roots in your brain.
When it tightens its grip on you, it can even invoke responses and behaviour that initially may not be totally acceptable to you. However, it will become more palatable and even pleasing over time.
It may continue to occupy a growing space in your being and eventually become a part of you.
Subtlety, it will take control of your life.
Scary?
To be fair, the harlot can also be like a saint. Usually, it starts off as one and it can remain so – as long as you do not allow it to run your life.
It can be your friend, educating and entertaining you. You can also use it to empower your life and enhance results and achievements.
What’s the name of this potential harlot or saint?
Facebook.
Facebook has an unbelievable power to engage you over a protracted period of time.
It can sometimes make you scroll mindlessly and meaninglessly through post after post, Like after Like of a  growing number of its pages.
(Please don’t leave my Love Note now.) Â Â 🙂
Over time, Facebook can influence you far more than you can ever know or imagine.
Ask yourself, Are you using  Facebook or are you being abused by it?
Whether Facebook is your friend or foe, it depends on how you use one of the most powerful gifts from our Creator – Choice.
Bear in mind – Choices have consequences.
You can choose to control Facebook or let it control you. It can be your servant or your master – the decision is entirely yours and you have to make it every time you log into Facebook.
Remember, for whatever you accept into your life, if you cannot control it, it can control you or start to control you.
In my humble opinion, you can be an addict to any substance or for that matter, any activity.
Anything can become a driver, a drug, an ego trip, a corrupting influence, or an overwhelming power.
Everything can become demonic.
Beware.
Your brain can tell you it’s not possible or it will never happen to you.
(Remember the well-entrenched neural pathway?)
That’s why no smoker at the beginning will tell you that he/she will become a chain smoker. An alcoholic who don’t believe and admit he/she is an alcoholic will not be able to cure himself/herself.
Through my study and observation of all kinds of addiction, I have formulated a series of tests to determine if you are or can be addicted to Facebook.
If  your mind is preoccupied with Facebook and you spend more time on it than is necessary, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you cannot stop yourself from using Facebook at will and at any point in time, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you cannot be truthful to others about time spent on Facebook, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you spend time on it at the expense of doing something more important and living a better lifestyle, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you spend more and more time on it, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you feel uncomfortable or even irritated when you stop using Facebook or endeavour to stop using it, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you use Facebook to escape from problems and  challenges in your life or to improve your mood, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you have made repeated attempts to control, cut back, or stop the use of Facebook, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you have done something wrong in the process of using Facebook and you do not correct it or correct it adequately, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you have jeopardized or lost a significant relationship, job, project or opportunity because of using Facebook, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
If you have not plan a schedule for the use of Facebook and implement it effectively, you are addicted or on the way to be addicted to it.
The best way to determine if you are addicted to Facebook is to shut it down and stop using it for a period of time.
Who knows, you may be glad you’ve got your life back. Â 🙂
In any case, it’s good to fast from Facebook every now and then so as to face our Creator and face your true self – and to do it without any distraction.
When your mind is clear about how to live your life effectively, such clarity will bring power. You need such a power to control the use of Facebook and other areas of your life.
You can never get older in the past or younger in the future. Do not waste your life on earth.
May the social media force be with you and not against you.
I trust Facebook will help you craft in print or mentally the best book about your life.
