When I was young, there was a time when I was a serial ‘worry-er.’
I worry over all kinds of things.
I sometimes thought that the more I worry, the faster I would get a solution. The more I worry, the better I would feel.
Then I realized, the opposite was more correct.
I became more inclined towards negative thinking and I wasted more energy and other resources. It affected my creativity and performance.
The more I worry, the harder it was to focus on finding a solution.
Worries made me an unhappy person.
When I study happy people, I realized they don’t ‘Sweat the small stuff.’
For them, ‘Everything is small stuff.’
What it means is that they do not allow anything to worry them.
A wrong word from another person, lift not working, traffic jam, air condition breaking down, rejection, failure, financial problem, illness, relationship issue… Many challenges can happen in a day.
Happy people do not allow challenges to worry them.
Interestingly, as they are happy, they are more adept at resolving these challenges.
How can I manage worries in my life?
First, worrying starts from the mind; removing it must also start from the mind.
I have to decide that worrying should have no place in my life. It is detrimental to my health.
Secondly, I must learn how to forget unpleasant issues in my life.
Our Creator has designed us with the ability to forget. All we need to do is to activate it.
Can you remember everything in your life? Obviously, the answer is “No.â€
That proves you have the power to forget.
Remember the words of Friedrich Nietzsche, ‘Without forgetting it is quite impossible to live at all.’
Forgetting, not remembering, can give us the power to restart life all over again.
Thirdly, I have to stop being overly conscious of and avoid looking for concerns and challenges in life. I must learn to control or resolve them. They must not be allowed to affect my heart and mind.
To strengthen my emotional muscles for removing worries, I must exercise them.
Everytime, when I start to get worried, I will slap my wrist and shout emotionally, ‘Stop!’
After I have done that, I will replace my thoughts with positive ones. I will then focus on anything that will lift my spirit.
Fourthly, another good way to resolve issues in my life is to write about it. I will pour out my emotions on to the pages and usually after that, I will feel better.
In addition, by writing about it, it can help me to have more clarity and to develop better solution.
Fifthly, I can also resolve my worries by talking it over with wise and caring friends.
They can help me think through the issues and guide me to resolve concerns and challenges.
By sharing with them, I can enhance my emotional state of mind. It can also help me clear my mind and help me achieve better results.
Bobby Mc Ferrin wrote a song and released it in September 1988. It became the first Capella song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, a position the song held for two weeks.
The title of the song is, ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy!’
Go4It!
I hope this message will find a place in your heart.
