Key To Immense Wealth And Success – Part 2.

by Patrick Liew on February 10, 2014

To open the door to immense wealth and success, you need to unlock it with an important key.

I call it the Values Key.

You need to value-add to whatever you set out to do and to the people around you so as to achieve quality and sustainable results.

When you offer nothing, chances are you will achieve nothing.

If you expect to achieve something by offering nothing of value, you are gambling with life.

You will go down the slippery road of failure.

However, when you are able to provide massive amount of value-addition, you will attract greater opportunity and success.

Let me begin by sharing with you the meaning of value-addition.

Then, I’ll share with you how to use it to unlock the door to immense wealth and success.

1. What Is Value-Addition.

There are essentially two key aspects of value-addition.

1.1. Value-improvement.

Value-improvement refers to the increase in output less input divided by units of labour.

This is a typical definition and it has to do with improving efficiency and productivity of your performance.

1.2. Value creation.

Value creation is about enhancing quality of output so as to achieve the best possible results.

It is not just about achieving incremental but also quantum leaps of improvement.

1.3. Value-addition.

Value improvement is about taking action  in the best possible way.

However, value creation is about producing the best possible results.

Therefore, value-addition is about achieving the best possible results in the best possible way.

In short, it’s about taking the right action rightly.

In whatever role you play, the obligation is to achieve the right outcome and impact as well as the best results for the stakeholders.

For example, my responsibility as an entrepreneur is not just about helping employees to enjoy higher wages.

It is also about helping them to enjoy job satisfaction and fulfillment in the best possible way.

2. How To Value-Add To Others And The Environment.

The question that begs to be answered is not when you can start to become a person of values but how.

The earlier you start, the stronger you prepare and position yourself for success.

Let me share how you can create optimal value-addition for others and  for the environment.

2.1 Believe that you are of value.

You have to believe that you are of value.

Love yourself and be comfortable under your own skin.

Emotional stability will help you win more friends.

On the other hand, if you are emotionally unstable, it will repel them from you.

The more you have faith in yourself and work on improving yourself, the better you can value-add to others.

2.2 Appreciate and value others.

Besides valuing yourself, you must also know how to appreciate and value others.

You must also let them know that you value them.

You must not only believe that you can value-add to them, you must also
take action to turn it into a reality.

The more you value-add to others, the more you will also value-add to yourself.

By the same token, the more you value-add to yourself, the more you will be able to value-add to others.

It is a virtuous cycle that can only take you to a higher level of achievement.

2.3 Position yourself as a person who value-add to others.

In the exciting journey of life, build a strong personal brand for value-adding to others.

Position yourself as a problem solver and a solution provider.

Aim to exceed other people’s expectation of you.

Deliver more values and run many more extra miles for them.

Build a track record for helping others to succeed in life.

As a result, you will always be a respected and desired member of any organisation, community and society.

2.4 Value-add according to the needs of a higher order.

As you value-add to others, you will do well to remember that people have unique needs.

They value different things in different ways.

Therefore you need to define the needs of the people around you.

Deliver the values that best meet their needs on an ongoing basis.

Fulfill needs that will help them achieve the highest possible returns and results.

For example, if you are an entrepreneur, do not just focus on making money.

Instead, provide so much values to your customers such that they cannot help but feel obligated to pay you well.

They are more than happy to continue to do business with you.

If you are an employee, help your employer, colleagues and other stakeholders to build a well-loved company, a company that will deliver the best possible results to them.

By doing so, you will earn favour from everybody in the company.

Your employer will value you and be more inclined to pay you a better salary increment and bonus.

You will also become the preferred choice for promotion.

When you help others reach a higher plane in life, they will also help you reach a higher plane in life.

2.5 Take value-added action daily.

Decide how you want to value-add to the people around you and what you want to achieve.

Start by developing yourself.

All changes must begin with yourself.

Improvement starts with an “I”.

Ask yourself constantly:

To live a great life:

What must I start doing?

What must I stop doing?

What must I do more of?

What must I do less of?

Put together a detailed blueprint of action and discipline yourself to execute it.

Then coach and mentor others on how they can also improve their value-addition and achieve better results.

2.6 Be a hub and a router of values.

Strive to be a hub and a router of values.

Connect with the right talents and multiply your values exponentially by improving your synergy with others.

Learn how to cooperate and collaborate with them so as to co-create better solution.

Help to receive, configure, and transmit values from individual to individual, group to group, and organisation to organisation .

Develop a network of resources that you can offer to others so as to help them improve  their values and achieve better results.

Soon, you will become a magnet of success and a hub to distribute values to others.

2.7 Continue to increase your value-addition quotient (VQ).

Today, you must offer more values than what you did yesterday.

Tomorrow, you must offer more values than what you did today.

To do that, you need to stretch yourself.

You will never know how much you can stretch until you stretch yourself.

When you do that wisely, you  will be amazed at the tremendous amount of potential that our Creator has given to you.

You can continue to improve your value-addition and results.

You can also achieve ever-more and ever-better results with ever-less resources by developing and riding on leverages.

They include leveraging on system, people, technology, innovation, and other resources.

Challenge yourself to see how far you can go to value-add to others and to the environment.

2.8 Improve your value-addition through lifelong learning.

To improve your value-addition, you must commit yourself to lifelong learning.

When you bring out the best from yourself, you can also bring out the best from others.

However, just as you cannot be all things to all people, you cannot learn everything and pretend that you can be an expert in every subject matter.

You need to focus on learning what is important to your life right now.

At the same time, you need to also learn what is important to the future success of your life.

To do that, you need to spend time with yourself and reflect about life.

You need to take time away from your daily routine and free your mind from the noise within yourself and without.

Only through clarity and a focused effort can you then put together an effective learning plan to multiply your values in life.

2.9  Celebrate the process and achievement of value-addition.

In the process of learning, growing and achieving better results, you need to enjoy the journey.

You need to celebrate every achievement.

If you are are not excited about improving yourself and having fun, you will not put in your heart and soul to make it work.

Value-adding on all your endeavors can be one of the most dynamic and exciting commitments in your life.

2.10 Value-add out of a heart of love and kindness.

Obviously, as you value-add to others, do not focus on getting any reward and recognition.

Do not live to expect values from others. Instead, constantly seek to be of value to them.

For example, do not seek to have the best of friends. Instead, seek to be the best of friends to others.

Do not expect to have the best spouse. Instead, be the best spouse to your soul-mate.

Whatever value-addition that you provide, do it out of love and for the love of people and the environment.

This is one of the ways to reignite the power of love and bring humanity back to where it rightfully belongs – a community of love.

When people perceive that you have a good heart and there are values in building a relationship with you, they will be attracted to you.

Opportunities will also gravitate towards you.

Success becomes a natural milestone in your life.

In conclusion, let’s live for others and not just for ourselves. Serve their best interests and not just ours.

As we value-add for a higher good, the world will be a better place.

Let’s share the message about the Values Key with our friends and loved ones.

Question: How can you improve and increase your value-addition to others and to the environment?
