Learnathon 2013 – Part 13.

It’s 2.31 am. The euphoria has not subsided.

I’m still excited about Learnathon 2013 even though the curtain has come down.

We had literally only ten days to organize the event.

Ten days to create magic.

Ten days to put together a dream team and to produce a miracle.

And….

We Did It!

1. Volunteers.

Our volunteers started to meet at 6pm. They were deployed very quickly to various positions. All set to make things happened.

2. Emcee.

As Ken Sapp was not feeling well, our assistant Emcee, Samson Zee took to the stage and did a great job.

3. Speakers.

The speakers were indeed the highlights of the event.

Every one of them shone through with their knowledge, expertise, and presentation skills.

Truly Masters of the art and science of public speaking!

4. Singspiration.

The crowd join in the two singing sessions.

They locked their arms and sang with one voice and with all their hearts. They sang as a prayer, a wish for a better tomorrow for our brothers and sisters in Philippines.

We could not have done it without the backing of the highly talented singers from Hark Music.

In addition, their individual and group performances also made Learnathon 2013 an amazing experience.

5. Auction.

The painting ‘Emotion 10: Joy and Hope’ was sold for $15,500.

I proudly told Artist Andy Yang subsequently that his masterpiece would be in good hands. It was a piece that he loved and had kept  for awhile.

The painting was sold to Mr Yee Shun-Jian, a good entrepreneur and one who also has a good heart. A leader who seek to bring love, hope and joy to others.

6. Fund-Raising Target.

We have achieved our target of raising more than $150,000.

We are still computing the final number and will report about it shortly.

7. Thank You.

Thank you to all our volunteers and everybody who have contributed one way or another to the event.

You have made Learnathon 2013 a rousing success. It will be an event that we will remember for a long long time.
