'Love Cheng Family' Has Started A Wave

What started as a ripple has become a wave. And the wave looks like its gathering strength and speed.

One man, Mr Cheng Teck Hock’s tragic death – a total stranger to many of us – broke the heart of a nation. A brave family he left behind stood alone – and the nation stood up for them.

They grieve – but not alone. The nation grieves with them.

All across …the country, they showed up – locals as well as foreigners. They joined their hands together – regardless of race, language or religion – they rose to the occasion to offer their help.

We are one nation, one people – and none should be left behind. We should laugh together – and nobody should cry alone.

I decided to help. Interestingly, many felt the same way.

Andrew Chow, my good friend sounded the trumpet call. He said to me, “Let’s inspire people to share their outlets across the nation. Let people come together to mourn for this loving husband and a good father.

“Let’s pen well wishes to the Cheng Family.

“Lets challenge people to donate to a good cause. Let’s set up donation boxes for them to drop their crossed cheques to ‘Lim Choo Eng’.

“Let’s reignite the power of love. Bring compassion and kindness to the community”.

A dream was born, a simple plan – doable and definitely scalable. A ripple was started…
