Enjoying Job Satisfaction (Part 4)

by Patrick Liew on October 23, 2011

I was once headhunted to run the regional office of a multi-national company.

Although they gave me an idea of the challenges involved, little did I know I was walking into a perfect storm.

The company had a legal suit with the previous management staff. The office was almost vacated.

Meanwhile, the customers were left on a lurch. Business took a nose dive.

The company’s branding took a beating in the market. It seemed harder to rebuild our reputation than to start a totally new business.

To cut a long story short, I managed to turn the company around.

I did not only achieve the high target set by my bosses, I also won incentive trips to go to Europe and Africa.

I had a simple formula for making sure I enjoy my work. It was also a formula that helped me to achieve success in my work.

When I go to the company, I went in with an employer mindset – rather than an employee mindset.

Everyday, I asked myself, “If I am the owner of the company, how can I improve the company and achieve better results?”

“How should I manage and work with my colleagues so that we will have a great team?

“How can I support my bosses so that they, too, can achieve better results and contribute to a healthy work environment?”

When I adopted an employer mindset, I realised I could initiate many changes and help build a better company for everybody.

My bosses appreciated my work attitude. They recognised me publicly and rewarded me financially and otherwise.

So, think like the boss from today!

Go4It!

I hope this message will find a place in your heart.

By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.

Question: How can we make things happen even if it seems impossible?
