Being Corrected

by Patrick Liew on June 13, 2011

My colleague told me off recently.

We were together in a business meeting. In the midst of the discussion, I received an important email.

After reading it, I took time to respond to it. Meanwhile, everybody was looking at me and after awhile, they continued the meeting without me.

I was downrightly rude. And I have no excuse for doing it.

To make matters worse, I have been training my people to be fully present for any meeting.

I have been sharing the virtues of being considerate. I encouraged them to put in their heart, mind and soul for the other parties’ sake – or forgo the meeting.

I have decided not to commit the same offense again. Please help me.

I am happy to have well-intentioned friends who will correct me.

Even if they do it harshly – and it does not feel good – I am a better person for it.

I am a work-in-progress. I am still learning. Please be patient with me.

I hope this message will find a place in your heart.

Life is FUNtastic!

Question: How can we manage our personal infocomm devices, eg phone without being rude?
