Bold Vision For Singapore’s Future

History has shown to us that leaders who dare to dream great dreams and turn these dreams into a reality create the brightest future for their people.

In the past, we have leveraged on our geographical position and excelled as a regional entrepôt and hub.

Moving ahead, through innovation, digitization and globalization, we can reposition ourselves to become a Global Hub – a vital, desired and significant spoke, node, router and connector for global trade and commerce, and other essential services.

A Global Hub that is not only for transacting products, services and finance but also a hub for ideas, innovations, knowledge, talents, technologies, expertise, connections and collaborations, and other resources.

In the future, whenever a business or consumer buys or sells anything from one country to another, and even if the goods do not physically go through Singapore, we can have a stake in the transaction and extract different values, including financial benefits from global deals.

This is an opportune time for Singapore to rise up as many developed countries are adopting austerity measures and taking a cautious approach in response to the volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous environment.

We can strengthen our capacity and capability to capitalize on silver linings in dark clouds and leapfrog over competing economies.

By becoming a Global Hub and making the world our hinterland and marketplace, we can go beyond our physical and other constraints to create the best futures for our people.
