Brexit Lessons For Singapore?

There are lessons we can learn from the Brexit crisis that can contribute to the survival and success of Singapore’s

For example, moving forward, I suspect our greatest challenge may not be out there, but within and among us.

Singapore is a small nation and vulnerable in so many ways.

At the top of the list, we cannot afford to be polarized and divided because we need to leverage all our collective strengths and other resources to succeed in the Fourth Wave.

As a people, we must have the self-efficacy to believe we can battle all odds, and have the discipline, determination, tenacity and resilience to turn our dreams into a reality.

Build on our “gotong royong” spirit by pioneering more bottom-up and peer-to-peer initiatives.

Foster more helping hands, including non-governmental organizations and volunteers to strengthen bonds between families and communities.

Help to take care of each other, and to look after the last, the least, the lonely, and the lost.

Encourage more partnerships between the public, private and people sectors, and galvanize key stakeholders to connect, collaborate and co-create solutions for our brightest future.

Develop a home where we will have a deeper sense of rootedness and belonging.

Continue to believe that it’s in our Little Bright Red Dot that we can find purpose for living, and happiness and fulfillment for ourselves, our communities and our country.

At the end of every election and other potentially divisive event, we need to close rank as a people and put aside our differences so as to achieve peace, progress and prosperity.
