I reflect. Therefore, I am.
Rene Descartes was famously quoted for the philosophical statement, “Cogito ergo sum. ”
It means, “I think. Therefore, I am.”
I like to rephrase these words as “Consulo ergo sum” and apply them in a different context.
It means, “I reflect. Therefore, I am” in Latin.
To know yourself is the start of acquiring wisdom.
Mastering yourself will help you accelerate your way to success.
Success is both an internal as well as an external journey.
If your inner world is wrong, the external world cannot be right.
As you master your internal life, you’ll start to learn how to achieve victories in the real world.
Therefore, spend time on self reflection.
To reflect about your life, you may need to temporarily move away from your usual circle of friends and activities.
If need be, shut yourself away from the modern world.
Avoid modern communication facilities.
And seek to conduct self-reflection without any distraction.
In the process of reflection, quieten your mind.
Seek out our Creator, the ultimate Source of truth and wisdom.
Review your actions and any record of how you have conducted your life.
Ask yourself deep and reflective questions, and journal your thought processes and responses.
Critical self-reflection is one of the best ways for you to learn and improve. It helps you change yourself and get better results.
Start by taking stock of where you came from, why you are here, and where you are heading to.
As you reflect, your mind will sort out your thoughts, and your thoughts will sort out your mind.
It will help you formulate new vision, new mindset, new ideas, and new actions.
Re-think past experiences and their significance to you.
All these experiences happened for a reason and purpose, and they add new meanings to your life.
These experiences act like lamp posts.
They brighten your pathways, and inform you on how to travel through the highways and byways of life.
Some of the most painful experiences can become the best learning experiences and turning points in your life.
In the process of reflection, you will also undergo a healing process.
Come to terms with your past.
Bring peace to your heart, and help you reach out to others who are undergoing similar situations.
Be mindful that you’ll never get older in the past or younger in the future.
Therefore, do not waste any moment meandering through the desert of fears, doubts and uncertainties.
When your mind is clear about what you want in your life, such clarity will bring about magic.
By seeking the innermost chambers of your mind, you’ll also become cognizant about the miracles that exist both within you and without.
Become more grateful to our Creator for being alive, and thankful for all the beautiful moments that add colour and spices to the tapestry
of life.
