Learning By Traveling

Learning By Traveling

Traveling is one of the best ways of getting an education.

So I was queuing up at an airline’s check-in counter and I started a conversation with a starry-eyed young man.

To kill time, I told him one of my grandfatherly Agatha Christie-styled story, filled with corny humor, intrigue and suspense.

After checking in, out of compassion probably, he asked me to continue my story.

Like a typical Asian man, he indulged in this techno-saurus and allowed me to complete my long tale.

In exchange, he gave me a long discourse about cryptocurrency and Initial Coin Offering (ICO) right until we were about to board a plane.

Good exchange.

“Uncle,” at one point, he told me, “Cryptocurrency is money.

“You can’t see it, touch it, feel it, or use it in too many commercial outlets but it is money.”

Those words reminded me about what one of my army officers once told me a long time ago, “You’re full of hot smoke.”

Now, I know I’m way ahead of my time.

Just kidding.

That young man was so kind to show me how to download a digital wallet, and track pricing movements.

He even explained to me some salient information about the new world of cryptocurrencies.

After that encounter, I’m a slightly more enlightened old man.

Hurray!

The world is undergoing a rapid sea of change.

Whatever has brought you success today will not tomorrow.

In the past, you have to go through formal education to learn how to live your life.

Today, you have to constantly educate yourself to make your life count.

The battle cry in response to a fast-changing world is, “Learn or be disrupted!”

You have to commit to a process of lifelong learning.

A process of learning, un-learning, and re-learning.

To optimize your learning experience, develop a learning plan.

Determine the gap between current and desired competencies. Then explore ways to bridge the gap.

Treat your daily life as a classroom to learn and improve.

Remember, there are many doors to this 24/7 classroom of life.

Therefore, please don’t limit yourself to any particular way to get access to this classroom but get in as often as you can.

As you reflect and learn, be prepared to be corrected and to change your life.

Corrections are feeders – and sometimes rocky paths – to bring you back to the road of success.

Have a passion for learning and be a self-directed learner.

Learn how to learn and learn how to capitalize on things that matters and on new possibilities.

Be clear about what what you want to do for your life and future, and make learning an integral and vital part of your journey of life.

The best place and time to start learning is from wherever you are and right now.Go4It!

I hope this message will find a place in your heart.

By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.
