Living A FUNtastic Life (Part 45)

by Patrick Liew on November 25, 2011

As I journey through life, I found that I planned for many activities that helped me to achieve better results and successes. I focused on the benefits of reaching the destination without being mindful about enjoying the benefits of the journey.

Somehow I missed out on a lot of fun and enjoyment – without realising they are important ingredients to help me go farther and faster on my journey.

Long ago, I decided that I must plan for what I call happiness–generating activities – healthy activities that will help me to live an exciting life on both the short as well as long term basis.

I have come to realize that every one of us knows what these activities are deep within our hearts. They differ from one person to another and they change at different points in our lives.

These activities enhance our positive emotions. Positive activities will generate positive emotions. They can lead me to a virtuous spiral to achieve more fulfilment in life.

Negative activities will produce negative emotions, including unhappiness, anger, resentment and hatred.

Negative emotions will lead to more negative emotions and they can cause me to slide down the slippery path to destruction.

Emotions will also affect my thought processes.

When I enjoy positive emotions, I am more inclined to think more positively. It will lead me to create more happiness-generating activities that will continue to reinforce the positive emotions.

In effect, it will create positive experiences and memories – all of which will become powerful fuel to propel me to live a more meaningful and fruitful life.

Happiness-generating activities are the vitamins to live a more meaningful, exciting and fulfilling life.

I hope this message will find a place in your heart.

By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.
