I watched the movie ‘The Sorcerer And The White Snake.’
Although it was based on a Chinese legend, the director had taken more than the usual poetic license to modify the story to achieve box-office success.
There was a scene that stuck out in my mind.
The sorcerer had done everything to destroy the love between the White Snake and Xu Xian, a poor herbalist.
In anger, the White Snake had caused a tidal wave, flooded the town and caused many deaths.
As the Sorcerer laid on top of a statue, with flood water all around him, he asked a poignant question, “Have I been stubborn?â€
The director left the interpretation of the question to the audience.
My take is, the Sorcerer realized that there could have been better ways to resolve the issues and prevented the deaths.
He could have been more open to weigh the options and avoided the calamity.
Go4It!
