Lungs Of The Planet

Lungs Of The Planet

One day my heart was opened in front of me
And came out a wonderful symphony
But as I looked around I realized
Something stirred me up,
I was walking in the middle of a community
Of trees speaking in unity.

They were whispering the history
Of the wonders and all the mystery
I never knew was hidden inside me.

As their leaves rustled
They revealed my mind’s hustle and bustle.

And there emerged
The stillness found by this wanderer.

Oh trees! Bearer of secrets
The lungs of my home
The purifier of the air wherever I roam.

To strip you of your life
Is to deny us of the same air, food and water
The loss that no one can bear
To such irresponsibility
All the wrongs will not be spared.

And so before I got out of this living community
I promise to each and every tree
I’ll add one more as often as I see
A golden opportunity,
To plant and expand their family
Like how my forefathers
Pass on the wisdom of a living tree.

I hope to leave a world
Where my children and their children
Will find my footprints
Just below the shades
Beside a single spade.
The very same, they’ll use
to plant the seed
that will eventually feed
All the generations
There is to succeed.

I hope this message will find a place in your heart.

By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.
