May You Gallop All The Way To Success

by Patrick Liew on August 25, 2014

I love horses and all the wonderful virtues that they stand for. They represent positive values that should be a part of our life.

First, when I think of horses, I think of passion, energy, and spirit.

I see a magnificent being standing tall and proud with heads lifted high.

I am drawn to the beauty of its presence, its powerful body, and the speed and grace of its gallop.

That’s probably why the Chinese wish for each other to have the passion, energy and spirit of a dragon-like horse (龍马精神).

This is one of the wishes that I have for you.

Secondly, horses are sensitive to their circumstances and environment. They are mindful of every sight, sound, taste, smell, and sense.

Their keen sense of consciousness leads them to find places for food, water, and other means of sustenance.

Like horses, my wish for you is that you will always be mindful of the ‘here and now.’ Be fully present – body, soul and spirit – to savor and enjoy every moment.

May you enjoy life to the fullest.

Thirdly, horses are stable-footed and balanced beings. In the same way, to ride life effectively, you have to live it in a stable and balanced way.

I wish for you to have a balanced and well-managed life so that you will be successful in your work and other endeavors.

Fourthly, horses are highly adaptive beings. They are able to adjust to any environment and condition.

They have a strong survival instinct that can help them find food and flourish even during tough times.

I believe this ability to thrive is the reason why the Chinese has a saying, “马到成功.” What it means literally is that wherever the horse goes to in the wild, it can enjoy success.

I wish you, “马到成功.”

May you achieve your dream and every desire of your heart.

Recently, my friends and I are so enamoured by the values of the horse.

We have decided to commission Brad Blaze, a renown entertainer cum artist in Australia to craft a painting. It is to depict the meaning and significance of the horse.

The painting will be auctioned together with two other Brad Blaze paintings. The total proceeds will be donated to Reach Community Services Society to help finance the opening of two new Charity Centres.
In conclusion, may the profound meanings, values, and significance that the horse represents be a part of your life forever.
