Taking The Real Estate Road To Lifelong Success

Many years ago, I was at a crossroad in my life. I have to decide which industry I should devote my life to and contribute in.

There were many options available to me. I did my research and consider the decision carefully. I chose the real estate agency industry.

I would like to share with you the reasons for my choice.

1.       Real Estate Meets A Basic Need

According to the famous psychologist, Abraham Marslow, every person needs a shelter. Quite simply, without a roof, he/she cannot live.

I feel I am contributing to an important part of a person’s life.

2.       Real Estate Is A Lifestyle Factor

Real estate determines the comfort, happiness and overall well being of every individual, family and organisation.

That is the reason why it is one of the most expensive assets for any person or company.

The real estate industry is a trillion-dollar industry.

I was and am still excited about this industry.

3.       Real Estate Enjoys Positive Support

Every Singaporean is born with a ‘key in the tongue’. Every child wants to own his/her own home, HDB or otherwise.

It is also the dream of our founders to ensure that every Singaporean has a home. It was and is still an important nation-building process.

Real estate is an important pillar of our economy and society.

I am glad that I can do my part for our community and country.

4.       Real Estate Is A Good Investment

Singapore has a limited area of 710 sq km. There is also a limit to how much land we can reclaim from the sea.

The government is working on a planning parameter of growing our population from 5.08 million to 6.5 million. In other words, the demand for real estate will continue to increase.

Singapore is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The Economic Development Board has forecasted a healthy pipeline of foreign direct investments.

Our country has one of the highest reserves per capita in the world. It can be leveraged upon to ensure stability and sustainability of our economy.

Unemployment rate is at one of the lowest points. Wages are on the increase.

Our property market continues to attract interests from foreign enterprises and investors. Very importantly, we are attracting many high net worth talents to move to Singapore.

Singapore is still one of the best places in Asia to live, work, learn or play in.

The financial standing of property owners should also improve with better economic development and educational system.

There are many other sound fundamentals underpinning the property market.

In the medium to long term, the real estate market is projected to grow.

I am indirectly helping people to save, invest, and increase their wealth.

5.       Real Estate Is A Valuable Asset

Unlike other instruments of investment, you can leverage on borrowings from the bank to own a property.

We have a responsible government who has a strong track record for upgrading the economy and the environment. It has enhanced the value of property asset.

Real estate is generally a good hedge against inflation. It can be refinanced or used as a collateral to borrow from financial institutions.

Most people became rich and wealthy because of investing in real estate.

I am happy to be able to help many people own this important asset.

 6.       Real Estate Industry Is A Highly Exciting, Rewarding And Fulfilling One

I am involved in an important and high value-added industry.

I can enjoy the best lifestyle. I can meet a wide variety of successful and interesting people.

I have the flexibility of time to run my business and look after my personal life. What’s more, I can earn as much money as I want.

The sky is the limit in terms of our what I can do, achieve and enjoy in this business.

The introduction of the Estate Agents Act 2010 will enhance the professional standards of this industry.

I feel that our industry can and will contribute to improve and I want to play a part to make it happened.

I trust that you will make a renewed commitment to the real estate agency industry. Be proud and passionate about our profession.

Our industry will go through one of the biggest booms in history.

There will be a new generation of icons, leaders and producers. I’m confident you will be one of them.
