My good friend. Richard Tan shared this metaphor with me many years ago.
It was a great wake up call for me. I have kept it in my heart all these years
To achieve financial freedom, you need to do it as early as possible.
Like a football match, you should aim to be financially free by the first half of it.
In other words, aim to be financially free by 40 years old.
The second half of the game will get harder.
The reasons are because you will be physically weaker. You may have lesser desire, commitment and confidence.
It will also be harder to develop the determination, grit, perseverance and resilience to pursue financial success.
The financial “football game” will end in one hour time.
In other words, you need to be financially free by 50 years old.
After 50 years old, you will be playing on extra time.
The heat will be on. Pressures will mount up.
At 55, the extra time is up.
If you have not won the financial freedom game, you may or may not get a chance to win by a penalty shoot-out.
In other words, you may wish that your family, children, friends or even the government will look after you.
It may be too late. Game over for you.
You may just end up in regrets over a wasted life and lost time.
My friend, the game is on.
Start scoring now before the referee blows the final whistle.
Then, it will be too late.
Go4It!
By the way, I have also recorded other reflections.
