Staying Young

by Patrick Liew on June 30, 2011

I spoke at a Global Forum with many distinguished speakers. One of them, Deborah Chew impressed me for her initiative in starting Project Happy Feet.

This is a non-profit organisation to empower under privileged youth and children in developing countries.

Deborah started her talk by asking the audience, “How many of you are young?”

She went on to give her opinion about what it means to be young – to have freshness and vigour.

Freshness to her means having “new, recent, bright, novel, current, and advanced ideas”.

Vigour means having “energy, determination, strength, resilience, vitality and liveliness”

To her, “Age is but a number!”

In other words, if we embrace and live out these qualities, we can be young forever.

I believe I am not old when I have nothing to learn, enjoy, achieve, and look forward to.

When I have nothing to learn, enjoy, achieve, and look forward to – I am old.

Go4It!
